Spanish air carrier Air Europa announced Thursday the latest step in its expansion throughout the Caribbean with the connection of its daily flight between Spain and the Dominican Republic with Puerto Rico.
Air Europa’s first direct flight from Madrid landed in San Juan Thursday evening, marking the start one more of the nonstop trans-Atlantic route to Spain and Europe, halted last year by Iberia Airlines.
Puerto Rico will once again have a direct connection to Spain starting in May 2014, when Air Europa will take over the route that competitor Iberia abandoned earlier this year due to economic problems.
