A workgroup comprising public and private sector representatives handed Gov. Alejandro García-Padilla a report containing 34 recommendations Sunday to tackle Puerto Rico’s low labor participation rate, brain drain, the aging population and the underground economy.
The government of Puerto Rico plans to spend $750,000 over a 12 month-period starting in June to open and run commercial offices in Colombia and Perú — and launch a magazine to document its actions — to drum up business in Latin America and establish the island as the bridge between that region, Europe and the United States.
With a new Board of Directors and members, the Puerto Rico District Export Council outlined Wednesday its efforts to nurture and assist local businesses to achieve growth through exporting.
