Puerto Rico slipped five notches to 41st place in this year’s World Economic Forum’s Global Information Technology Report, yet remains ahead of other countries in the region in terms of connectedness, local experts said Wednesday upon analyzing the results.
The Puerto Rico Broadband Taskforce announced Tuesday the local launch of “EveryoneOn,” a national public service campaign aimed at promoting digital literacy skills and the importance of being connected online as a means of social, educational and economical development.
The Latin America and Caribbean regions still suffer from a serious lag in the adoption and use of information technology (ITC) despite infrastructure improvements, an expansion of coverage and a push into e-government, according to the World Economic Forum’s Technology Report 2013 released a few moments ago.
