The Puerto Rico Labor Department is going after companies and government agencies that have failed, for whatever reason, to make their unemployment insurance payments for the past five or six years and now owe a combined $378 million, agency Secretary-designate Vance Thomas confirmed.
Following a series of meetings with private trade groups, customers and government officials, maritime shipping company Crowley Puerto Rico Inc. agreed to modify and push back the implementation of a new “Chassis Usage Charge” that could have potentially meant an increase in prices for consumer goods transported to the island.
When it comes to air travel, it seems that each passing day witnesses the birth of a new fee for what once upon a time were benefits included in the cost of the ticket.
