Manufacturing operations — including pharmaceuticals and medical device makers — have not given notice of plans to leave the island despite the hardship conditions Hurricane María left in its wake, Economic Development and Commerce Secretary Manuel Laboy said Monday.
Assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is available to help individuals and families affected by Hurricanes Irma and María take care of necessary expenses and serious needs that are not covered by insurance or other forms of assistance.
The Economic Development Bank for Puerto Rico has granted $230,000 in credit lines to local companies M&B Steel and Vernet, which will allow them to continue operating and grow in the midst of the crisis brought on by Hurricane María, agency President Luis Burdiel-Agudo said.
