Once a vigorous part of the economy, Puerto Rico's construction sector remains mired at its lowest point in more than a decade with little hope of improvement in the next year, when activity is expected to stay at its present level of under $2 billion, said a spokesman for the industry.
The Highways Authority will invest $254.6 million in federal funding on 53 road infrastructure projects that should be awarded in June 2016, agency Executive Director Carmen Villar announced Thursday during a meeting of the Associated General Contractors, Puerto Rico Chapter.
The Associated General Contractors of America, Puerto Rico Chapter, in coordination with the Department of Education will conduct the annual closing of its “Build Up!” and “On Site!” programs May 12, when some 300 children and 50 adults from island public schools will gather.
