More than 9,000 homeowners in Puerto Rico could save an average of $182 a month, or approximately $2,200 a year, on their mortgage loans as the result of the extension through 2016 of the Home Affordable Refinance Program and the Home Affordable Modification Program, federal authorities said this month.
In the United States, electricity costs 10¢ to 12¢ per kilowatt-hour (kwh), while in Costa Rica, it’s 15¢ per kwh and higher in Honduras and Nicaragua, Central America’s poorest countries.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced it has some $10.4 million in funding available for grants to support rural community economic development.
