Puerto Rico’s high asthma rates, and recycling and pollution prevention efforts were some of the issues on the agenda of a meeting that took place late last week between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and local government representatives in New York, the agency said Monday.
During the fourth edition of its “Electronic Equipment Recycling Day” event, the Puerto Rico CPA Society collected more than 17,000 pounds of unwanted electronics that will be kept out of the island’s dumpsters.
As part of its environmentally friendly agenda, the Puerto Rico CPA Society will host a paper recycling event, Oct. 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organization members will be charged a fee of $2.50 per box — up to five boxes — delivered to the Capital Center building in Hato Rey. Non-members will have to pay $5 per box, for the same five-box limit.
