Car sales dropped by 2.4 percent in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in June, when 9,388 units rolled off the lots — or 234 fewer than those sold the same month last year, the United Automobile Importers Group (known as GUIA for its initials in Spanish), announced Wednesday.
Puerto Rico’s automobile sales reached 7,736 units last month, 400 units less than the 8,136 cars that rolled off the lot in May 2012. The decrease represents a 4.9 percent market reduction, according to numbers released Monday by the United Automobile Importers Group (known as GUIA for its initials in Spanish).
New car sales in Puerto Rico showed a 6.5 percent drop in March, a decline that affected many of the most popular brands, including Toyota, Ford and Chrysler, the United Automobile Importers Group known as GUIA revealed Wednesday.
