After the long-awaited and much-touted arrival to the local market, IKEA, the Swedish/Dutch company founded by Ingvar Kamprad in 1943, opened its first store in Puerto Rico in Bayamon, last week. The concept unveiled is modeled after the one in the Canary Islands, Spain and the Dominican Republic, called an “IKEA Point” (Punto IKEA).
Twelve years after making its local debut, retailer Macy’s Inc. announced Friday plans to open a new store in Ponce, in the fall of 2015. The two-level, 150,000 square-foot store will be located in Plaza del Caribe, owned by Empresas Fonalledas.
Puerto Rican natural product company Vita Natura announced Tuesday an expansion plan that includes opening three new stores in Puerto Rico and two in stateside later this year.
