More than two years after running into some serious production troubles at its Las Piedras plant, McNeil Consumer Healthcare announced Tuesday it will layoff 225 people as it focuses on complying with correcting deficiencies detected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
For the fifth time this year, McNeil Consumer Healthcare has announced a recall of its consumer products, this time collecting 2.5 million packages of a Tylenol product that may have been produced at its Johnson & Johnson plant in Las Piedras, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Stateside pharmaceutical industry analysts placed their bets this week on whether Johnson & Johnson officials will decide to temporarily shut down the McNeil production plant in Las Piedras to correct manufacturing problems that have led to a string of major recalls in the last year.
