In the most recent Global Information Technology Report released Wednesday, Puerto Rico ranked second among the region’s most connected jurisdictions, behind only Barbados. However, the island ranks 36th in the world in terms of connectivity, which still denotes the persistence of a significant digital divide.
Puerto Rico has made a positive movement back up the ranks of this year’s World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report, by placing 35th among 142 countries. The ranking represents an improvement from last year, when Puerto Rico had fallen to the 41st spot on the list.
The survey that will determine Puerto Rico’s ranking in this year’s World Economic Forum’s Competitive Report has been distributed to members of the local business community, who the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce is urging to fill it out to help paint a clear picture of the island’s current standing.
