Volunteers clean up Tortuguero Natural Reserve

Armed with gloves and bags, the volunteers split into groups to tackle strategic areas of the reserve, collecting more than 6,000 pounds of waste.
Some 75 volunteers grouped under the Puerto Rico chapter of the International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners recently participated in a cleanup effort of the Tortuguero Natural Reserve in Vega Baja.
For the fifth annual event, representatives from a number of Microsoft’s partners, namely Nagnoi, Rock Solid Technologies, KPG, xRM Group, Integratek, Knowlity, POR Group, GLC and Infocorp, came together to “generate community awareness to support our ecological system and deliver a message of solidarity during Earth Month,” the group said in a statement.
Microsoft Puerto Rico employees also joined the effort, IAMCP Puerto Rico President Néstor Figueroa said.
“The efforts of the past five years were evident this time, as there is less garbage in the Tortuguero Natural Reserve. There was a reduction of 30 percent compared to last year,” said Angel Pérez-Galarza, who organized the event.

Great job!
