Fragrance and body care retailer Bath & Body Works is moving full steam ahead with plans to make its debut in Puerto Rico, where it will reportedly open three stores, at least two of them before year’s end — earlier than initially announced.

News is my Business has learned that contrary to what was announced in January, Bath and Body Works will open its first store in Plaza Las Américas in Hato Rey on Sept. 30, rather than at Plaza del Sol in Bayamón, where it will reportedly open Nov. 4.

A third location, slated for Plaza Carolina, is also in the works, but the opening date has yet to be revealed.

Attempts to reach Bath & Body Works for further details were unsuccessful.

And while Plaza Las Américas officials refrained from commenting on the retailer’s impending arrival, Plaza del Sol officials only confirmed that the store will open there in November — well ahead of the “early 2014” opening date established earlier this year.

In preparation for the upcoming store openings, Bath & Body Works is recruiting management staff, with six such positions posted on its website. The retailer is looking for store managers and co-managers for the three stores.

Cheesecake Factory opening in August
Meanwhile, another highly anticipated arrival, casual dining restaurant The Cheesecake Factory, will make its local debut at Plaza Las Américas in late summer, with a target opening date of Aug. 28.

Although no official announcement has been posted on the restaurant’s website, which typically confirms upcoming openings 60 days before the date, local sources told this media outlet the information checks out.

The restaurant will move into a new 10,000 square-foot stand-alone space under construction at Plaza Las Américas in front of the former Citibank location.

The California-based restaurant chain is known for known for its extensive menu, generous portions and legendary desserts. The Cheesecake Factory features an extensive menu of more than 200 selections, “all made fresh, from scratch, in-house, and more than 50 signature cheesecakes and desserts,” according to a self-description posted online.
