A CPA and a podiatrist have joined forces to open Puerto Rico’s first New Balance store, a boutique specializing in the renowned athletic brand’s footwear and sportswear. New Balance Puerto Rico is betting on its “value proposition and business model to introduce a new level of personalized service, with products resulting from more than a century of technological innovation.”

The 2,000 square foot showroom feature a variety of unique shoe models for different sports, with particular emphasis on running and training for men, women and children. New Balance storeowners said they offer the largest selection of wide sizes (up to 6E) to cater to that clientele

“The variety of New Balance footwear and apparel meets a basic need of every athlete, regardless if they are novice, casual or elite, and that’s ultimate comfort and performance,” said CPA Ramón Burgos, co-owner of the new shop along with Podiatrist José Carlos Rodríguez-Portela. “Our selection of sports shoes are born from a legacy and passion for the perfect fit, and that’s why more and more sports fans — including those who practice running, tennis, training, hiking, ball — rely on benefits of the brand.”

The store located on Chardon Ave. in Hato Rey also features a full line of active wear and specialized devices and equipment. And in keeping with the Boston-based brand’s use of cutting-edge technology, the local store incorporates the iStep Foot Scanner, a machine that measures the customer’s step and provides information about the features of their feet such as pressure points and arc degree. With this information, the store associate can make a more accurate recommendation shoe that best meets a client’s needs.
