As it readies to inaugurate its new signature store at Stop 18, Walmart is forging ahead with its plan to restructure its Puerto Rico store base by converting Walmart stores into supercenters. Another priority is buying more local products.
Puerto Rico lottery players now have a new option through which to buy their tickets: brightly colored, free-standing, self-service ticket vending machines recently installed at several big box retailers in the San Juan metropolitan area. Lottery officials are betting the machines could generate close to an extra $1 million a year in gaming sales, this media outlet learned Tuesday.
In a few months, when Casa Sol opens its doors as Old San Juan's first Bed & Breakfast, it will join a growing list of small hostelries in the old city that are benefiting from increased tourist demand for cozy alternatives to traditional, large hotels.
