BBVA lends hand to MDA marathon

BBVA Puerto Rico is throwing its support behind the Muscular Dystrophy Association by setting up an electronic donation method through its www.bbvapr.com site, so the general public can contribute during the nonprofit’s Sept. 11 marathon.

Donations to the “Sentimientos 2011” MDA marathon can be made via credit or debit cards and checking accounts.

“At BBVA, we reaffirm our commitment to the MDA, with our society and with Puerto Rico’s wellbeing,” said Idalis Montalvo, vice president and director of BBVA’s communications and image division.

The MDA has been offering services to Puerto Rico’s physically challenged population for more than 37 years. At present, the nonprofit serves more than 3,100 people by providing medical services and orthopedic equipment financed with the donations received during its annual event.

The MDA marathon will air on Telemundo, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
