BLDM recognized as national ‘Diverse Business of the Year’

Bermúdez, Longo, Díaz-Massó (BLDM), a Puerto Rico-based firm specializing in electrical, mechanical, and telecommunications infrastructure development, was named “Diverse Business of the Year” by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

The AGC’s Excellence Awards in Diversity and Inclusion recognize member companies that promote diversity and inclusion within their workforce, supply chain, and communities in which they operate. The ceremony took place on March 21 in San Diego, California.

Judges assessed the company’s growth in diversity and inclusion in the construction sector, as well as its success, corporate culture and values, resilience and contributions.

BLDM had previously received a distinction in the medium-sized contractor category and this year surpassed all nominated companies in the United States.

“This award underscores our deep commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse work environment,” said Judith Monrouzeau, executive director of BLDM’s Human Resources and Compliance department.

Francisco Díaz-Massó, president of BLDM, said, “We’re proud to be recognized not only within our industry but as ambassadors of Puerto Rican entrepreneurship. We will continue working hard to promote equal development opportunities for all individuals. Puerto Rico needs every person willing to work for the country, and we must make efforts to provide them with opportunities to thrive and develop regardless of differences.”

The evaluation highlighted BLDM’s initiatives for neurodiverse populations, the LGBTQ+ community, women in construction, and a culture of continuous learning and inclusion at all company levels.
