Architects offer housing finance, development workshop

As part of the activities it has scheduled for Architecture Week, the Puerto Rico School of Architects and Landscape Architects will sponsor a pair of workshops Friday that are open to experts and the general public interested in the development of the island’s urban environment.

The first workshop on “Housing Financing and Development in Puerto Rico,” will begin at 2 p.m., when a trio of panelists — Puerto Rico Bankers Association President Arturo Carrión, Graham Castillo, president of Estudios Técnicos and Housing Finance Authority Executive Director George Joyner — will offer a diagnosis and analysis of the island’s housing situation.

Then at 4 p.m., Landscape Architect Eduardo Nevares will moderate a panel discussion on financing and development of housing, a topic that three other experts, Carmen Melero of the Bankers Association and architects Istra Hernández and Segundo Cardona will explore.

Both activities will take place at the CAAPPR’s Santurce headquarters and are meant to complement the Bankers Association 19th Housing Congress slated for Sept. 8.
