The Puerto Rican Association of Financial Analysts will meet Thursday to discuss the island’s economic situation and projections for 2013 to 2015, group president Heidie Calero said.

The analysis presents “an excellent opportunity for strategic planning of many of our businesses,” said the economist, who will also present the outlook.

“There are many economic challenges ahead facing the present administration in Puerto Rico in 2013. Can we afford to ignore these challenges? This presentation analyzes eight major challenges, ranging from the growth challenge to public debt to jobs to dependence on welfare to demographics, among others,” said Calero, who is president of H. Calero Consulting.

“It is time to: assess the state of the Puerto Rico economy; to identify new opportunities and growth potential; develop a solid information base; prepare a sound business strategy; learn what you can do with hard facts and analysis at hand. Finally, the presentation provides economic forecasts for a slow growing economy from 2013 thru 2015,” she said.

The event will take place at the Restaurante Antonio’s, in Condado, starting at noon. For reservations: 787-756-5715.
