FirstBank opens ‘Uno en acción’ room at EcoExploratorio

FirstBank has inaugurated the “Uno en acción” interactive room at the EcoExploratorio: Museo de Ciencias de Puerto Rico, an initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and financial education through technology and community engagement.
The exhibit offers hands-on activities for visitors of all ages, including augmented reality experiences, animated capsules and reporter-style simulations on topics such as coastal conservation, hurricane preparedness and recycling.
A centerpiece of the room is the Feedhorn artifact, a component of Puerto Rico’s Doppler radar that was destroyed by Hurricane María in 2017 and later recovered in the Carite Forest in Guayama. Organizers said it serves as a symbol of resilience after the storm.
“This room is a powerful example of how science, education and community action can come together to transform Puerto Rico’s environmental and financial awareness,” said Ada Monzón, meteorologist and founder of EcoExploratorio Inc. “We’re proud to partner with FirstBank on this initiative that empowers our children, youth and families to be agents of change and create more educated and resilient communities.”
The effort is part of FirstBank’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes the Rescate Costero program to plant 25,000 trees to mitigate erosion and reduce 252 tons of carbon dioxide annually. The bank also promotes digital banking, recycles electronic materials and has introduced the first recyclable-material payment card on the island.
“At FirstBank, we believe in making what transforms possible, and that’s why, in conjunction with EcoExploratorio, we’re inaugurating the ‘Uno en acción’ room,” said Michael McDonald, director of FirstBank’s Business Group.
“When a community knows and learns about its environment and how to manage it, it’s not only empowered, but becomes an architect of its own future,” he said.
The interactive room is open at EcoExploratorio, located at Plaza Las Américas, with a 10% admission discount for FirstBank cardholders.
