Ford Dealers auctioned off a 2013 Fiesta in benefit of the Alliance for a Drug-Free Puerto Rico.

The Ford Dealers Association of Puerto Rico donated $16,000 to the Alliance for a Drug-Free Puerto Rico, through the auction of a 2013 Ford Fiesta during the Antique Car Show held earlier this month.

This initiative is part of the Ford Dealers’ Community Support Program through which it has earmarked about $80,000 over the past three years to support various community initiatives.

The executive director of the Alliance for a Drug-Free Puerto Rico, Roxanna De Soto, thanked the Ford Dealers Association for supporting the organization, whose mission is to prevent the use, abuse and drug trafficking, through multiple educational programs comprising integrated mass media campaigns and projects in schools, communities and businesses.

“Through education, we want to help Puerto Rico’s children and young people to make the right decision. Specifically, we want to prevent our children and youth from having an initial contact with drugs, showing them the physical, social and emotional issues that come with using them and presenting positive alternatives, ” she said.

Meanwhile, Mark Buzzell, regional director of Ford International Business Development for Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Central America said “Ford has a strong commitment to the community of which we are part.”

“The Ford Dealers Association Puerto Rico again commits to the neediest. The Alliance for a Drug-Free Puerto Rico may continue its mission to prevent drug use and educate the younger generation of the harm they may cause; and this is another step we take to improve the quality of life on the island,” he said.
