Gov’t announces start of property tax payment cycle
The Puerto Rico Municipal Revenue Collections Center announced the July 10 start of the payment period for property taxes, while urging residents to use online tools to comply with their annual obligations.
Taxpayers who take care of their debt on or before July 31 will get a 10 percent discount on their bill, said Víctor Falcón-Dávila, head of the agency known as CRIM by its initials in Spanish.
Those who pay in August will benefit from a 5 percent discount.
“It is our interest to inform taxpayers that as we encourage them to pay this and other tax obligations, internally, we intend to provide them with an excellent service and reduce ongoing complaints about their tax matters and updates to other documentation that the CRIM handles. We’re giving priority to claims by citizens and mayors,” Falcón said.
Taxpayers can pay online through http://www.crimpr.net/ or over the phone at 787-625-0060. The agency has nine regional offices accepting payments. Taxpayers also have the option to remit their payment at any Banco Popular branch, Falcón said.
Thanks a lot for sharing this information. I guess a 10%
discount is quite a saving. But what would be the penalty if one will be late
for paying their taxes.
