The U.S. General Services Administration has opened an online auction for Plaza de Claudio Caguas, a 3-acre commercial property in the center of the city.

The auction began June 10 and will remain open until Aug. 11, according to the agency.

Also known as the former U.S. Army Reserve Center MSG Dionosio Claudio Caguas, the site is located at 1 Pino St., next to the Villa Turabo development. It sits within a busy commercial corridor near PR-52 — a direct route to San Juan — as well as PR-1, PR-172 and Calle San Carlos.

The property includes two buildings totaling more than 24,000 square feet — one measuring 17,441 square feet and the other 7,312. Surface parking and utility connections are in place. The site is being marketed as suitable for redevelopment.

The auction opened with a minimum bid of $250,000, with $10,000 increments and a $50,000 deposit required to participate. Only registered bidders may inspect the property. Dates for site visits will be posted on the auction website.

The sale is part of a federal effort to dispose of surplus real estate and encourage local economic activity. The GSA urged prospective buyers to review the full Invitation for Bids and related documents before submitting offers.
