Happy Products donates 13K cereal boxes to local nonprofits

Happy Products employees load up one of the trucks used to deliver 13,000 boxes of cereal to local nonprofits and Hurricane Sandy victims stateside.

Because breakfast is the most important meal of the day, food distributor Happy Products this week loaded up three trucks with more than 13,000 boxes of cereal to be donated to several nonprofits in Puerto Rico.

Among the beneficiaries are the Hogar Fondita de Jesús homeless shelter, the Casa Protegida Julia de Burgos battered women’s shelter, the Iniciativa Comunitaria Program that supports the homeless and AIDS patients. This latter institution in turn distributed the donated goods to other organizations.

Meanwhile, a portion of the donated goods — about 8,000 boxes — were delivered to Panamerican Grain, which is in the midst of a food drive to benefit Hurricane Sandy victims in the northeast as well as southern portions of the United States.

“This activity fills us with great satisfaction and emotion, as part of our philosophy is to provide nutrition to every home and, why shouldn’t we do the same with those who are homeless or in need? This is a commitment we have as a company that we will continue to uphold,” said Janice Valentín, vice president of the company.
