Campo Marzio, an Italian retailer with more than 80 years in business and more than 90 stores worldwide, will open its first shop in Puerto Rico, at the Plaza Las Américas shopping center in December.

The retailer specializes in creative accessories — from pens to leather goods — at accessible prices. Each Campo Marzio product is designed to please writers, those who prefer organized, modern and highly aesthetic spaces, and want to project an elegant and fashionable image in their personal or business lives. The Italian brand is characterized by the use of color, hues of fuchsia, purple, yellow, orange, blue and green, among others, which will strike customers upon entering the store.

The Campo Marzio chain is being introduced to the local market by young entrepreneurs Joel Montalvo and Karina Camacho, who were introduced to the retailer during a trip to South Africa.

“My professional experience has taught me that to succeed you have to be methodical and be organized. This should not be synonymous with monotony. Campo Marzio comes to help project an organized image, but with personality, when it comes to doing business,” said Camacho.

The store opening will generate six new jobs. The investment related to bringing the chain to Puerto Rico was not revealed.

“With the opening of Campo Marzio in Puerto Rico, we achieve one of our goals since returning to the island, contributing to Puerto Rico’s economic development by bringing an internationally renowned brand that promotes doing business with a stylish, vibrant and fun image,” Montalvo said.

My congratulations to Karina Camacho and especially Joel Montalvo, one of the earliest and most prominent alumni of the Córdova-Fernós Congressional Internship Program which I founded 21 years ago. He has given back to Puerto Rico through public service and now in private sector job creation.
