LMM Foundation talk to focus on family budget
With a calculator on hand, the Luis Muñoz Marín Foundation is hosting a seminar entitled “You and your budget,” to teach participants the skills they need to design a budget, make adjustments and plan financial decisions.
The workshop, to take place Mar. 11 at the nonprofit’s Trujillo Alto headquarters, will be offered by public management specialist Aida Pagán, a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus.
“The current economic and fiscal crisis we’re experiencing locally and internationally, although perceived negatively, helps us positively to create awareness of the possibilities that we must consider when making decisions that affect our pocket, our finances and our lifestyles,” she said.
“However, matters relating to budgetting and planning are not in the curriculum. We are simply not educated to at least prepare a budget that adjusts to how we plan our lives,” she said, noting that those who attend the workshop must have a calculator to be able to work out the exercises to be presented.
Pagán’s professional track record includes 30 years of experience at the Office of Management and Budget, from where she recently retired. She is also a member of the Public Budget International Association.
