Luis Muñoz Marín Airport adds Park & Ride service at Mall of San Juan

Aerostar Puerto Rico has launched a satellite Park & Ride service at The Mall of San Juan to ease parking congestion at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.
The service — announced late last year — operates 24 hours a day and provides free transportation to Terminals A and C every 30 minutes. The airport, according to Aerostar President Jorge Hernández, has already surpassed the passenger traffic projections originally set for 2045.
The $1.6 million program begins with an initial $500,000 investment and occupies floors two through five of the mall’s east-side garage. Travelers pay $60 for 1-5 days, with each additional day costing $9.50. The rate includes shuttle service, Teodoro Moscoso bridge tolls, and 24-hour security.
The new service expands the airport’s managed parking inventory to about 2,500 spaces. The shuttle system is operated by a local contractor and features buses with luggage racks and Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible facilities.
“This new service represents an immediate, efficient and convenient response,” Hernández said, noting it as a short-term solution while long-term infrastructure planning continues.
The Mall of San Juan’s general manager, Marnie Marquina, described the initiative as a “real solution that enhances the travel experience,” positioning the mall as an airport extension.
The service also includes added perks such as shopping discounts, luggage storage and leisure options, aiming to make travel more comfortable for passengers before or after their flights.
