Some 209 companies, mostly local small and medium businesses that took part in a meeting with Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico late last year, have identified opportunities with the firm and its project in Aguadilla, the government announced Tuesday.
Gov. Alejandro García-Padilla stressed Tuesday the importance of the development of the aircraft maintenance, repair and reconditioning center by Lufthansa Technick in Aguadilla as the “axis of a new industry that will consolidate the ongoing diversification of the island’s economy.”
Lufthansa Technik and the Puerto Rico government announced Thursday an agreement to create a new $57 million aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Puerto Rico, which will service short-haul and medium-haul aircraft.
