1st ‘Medtronic Experience Puerto Rico 2024’ marks health innovation milestone

The event helped establish a path toward a healthier and more sustainable future for Puerto Rico and the world, Medtronic stated.

“Medtronic Experience Puerto Rico 2024,” the first event of its kind organized by Medtronic Puerto Rico, marked a milestone in innovation and collaboration in the health care sector, gathering more than 100 health care leaders and hospital representatives.

Held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, Condado, the event featured “deep immersion in cutting-edge medical technologies that are revolutionizing medicine and their future transformative role in improving the island’s health system,” organizers said. It also served as a platform for critical discussions on patient-centric care.

“‘Medtronic Experience Puerto Rico 2024’ not only highlighted our leadership in medical technology innovation but also promoted vital discussions on health care’s future,” said Manuela Uribe, commercial manager of Medtronic Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

“This event underscores our ongoing commitment to community well-being, showcasing more than 50 years of innovation in Puerto Rico, with numerous breakthroughs originating from the island that have globally impacted lives,” she emphasized.

“Forums like these are pivotal, bringing together leaders, professionals and visionaries in health care to jointly explore how cutting-edge technologies and strategic partnerships can address present and future health challenges, aiming for broad, equitable access to quality care for everyone,” Uribe added.

The panel “Building the Future of Health, Together,” explored the role of public-private partnerships in advancing sustainable and efficient medical services. Speakers included Félix Rodríguez, deputy secretary of the Puerto Rico Health Department; Rep. Sol Higgins; and Jaime Plá, executive president of the Puerto Rico Hospital Association. They stressed an integrated approach to overcome health challenges.

Brenda Padilla of the Puerto Rican Diabetes Association led the panel “The Evolution of the Patient Role,” highlighting the movement toward more inclusive health systems that empower patients in their care and rights.

Attendees also experienced the “Innovation in Action” tour, which showed participants the latest in medical technology, such as the AI-powered GI Genius endoscopic module; the world’s smallest pacemaker, Micra; Pillcam capsule endoscopy; and the Mazor X spinal surgery robot.

“The success of ‘Medtronic Experience Puerto Rico 2024’ highlights the crucial role of collaboration in fostering innovation and enhancing patient care. We’re grateful to all participants for their enthusiasm and dedication and look forward to further opportunities to continue these significant discussions,” Uribe concluded.
