2nd edition of ‘Expo Talleres AtréveteHazlo’ slated for March 23-24

“Expo Talleres AtréveteHazlo,” an event uniting suppliers and entrepreneurs from Puerto Rico’s construction sectors, will host its second edition on March 23-24 at the Juan Sánchez Hidalgo Coliseum in Moca, free of charge.

Puerto Rico’s construction sector “has always played a categorical role in the transformation of the economic and social development. This contribution of the sector to the economy of our island has been reflected in the return on investment, generation of productive capacity and the generation of direct and indirect jobs,” event organizers said.

In fiscal year 2022, the Planning Board recorded $4.8 billion in private and public construction activity, marking a 7.5% increase or an additional $338.6 million from fiscal year 2021, which saw activities totaling $4.5 billion.

Private construction investments rose to $3.4 billion, a 28.8% increase, or an additional $763.5 million over the previous fiscal year’s $2.6 billion.

Conversely, public construction saw a decline, with the Planning Board estimating $1.4 billion in activity, down $424.9 million or 22.9% from fiscal year 2021’s $1.9 billion. In fiscal 2022, private investment accounted for 70.5% of the total, while public investment represented 29.5%.

“‘Expo Talleres AtréveteHazlo’ brings together all entrepreneurs in the construction value chain in a single space, and is an event to which students, professionals and the public interested in this sector are invited,” said Daniel Méndez, president of Expo Talleres AtréveteHazlo, contractor and professor.

“This is the best scenario to continue boosting the economy in Puerto Rico. Construction is a sector that is the driving force of the productive apparatus and the generation of jobs,” he stated.

The event will showcase the latest in architectural finishes, construction, equipment and tools, infrastructure, electrical materials and accessories, and specialized sector technologies.

It will include an educational agenda, experiential content and live product demonstrations by construction experts, as well as provide attendees with an opportunity to learn basic home project skills.
