AON, a risk management, brokerage, reinsurance, and human resources consulting and outsourcing services firm on Wednesday invited university students to participate in its college scholarship program, through the Puerto Rico Community Foundation.

The program provides supplementary financial aid to pay for undergraduate college tuition in different academic areas. Inscription period begins June 19 and ends July 22, 2014. The financial support could amount to $2,000 per student.

Starting this year, AON is expanding its scholarship fund with the goal of granting new funding to develop the talent, knowledge and leadership of local students who show financial hardship and academic excellence, the company said.

“Our social commitment is dedicated to supporting Puerto Rico’s academic development. Our youth are our future leaders and they need all the support we can provide to help them be prepared to assume that role,” said Manuel Bermúdez, president of Aon Puerto Rico.

“The program includes a summer internship that provides a workspace where these young students can practice the skills and knowledge gained throughout their academic experience,” added Bermúdez.

The program’s goal is providing incentives to students so they can successfully complete an undergraduate college career in the areas of Human Resources, Accounting, Finances, or Business Administration. Individuals must prove economic hardship, outstanding academic accomplishments, leadership, and interest in Puerto Rico’s economic development.

To apply, call the Foundation at (787) 721-1037, or by email at [email protected], during the established application period.
