ExcipientFest Americas 2015 slated for April 27-29
ExcipientFest Americas, a forum for “excipient” users and drug manufacturers to share technical, regulatory and commercial information, will be held April 27-29, at the Ritz Carlton, returning to Puerto Rico after two years of successful events stateside.
By definition, “excipients” are the inactive ingredients used to carry active ingredients in medications. They provide consistency and form, like pills and capsules, to allow active ingredients to be more effectively administered and absorbed by the body.
The three-day conference and expo covers cutting-edge scientific, regulatory and sourcing developments in excipients, the inactive ingredients used in the delivery of medications.
“The knowledge and ideas exchanged at ExcipientFest helps bring advances to an industry expected to reach $2 billion with demand growing 4.3 percent annually in the United States,” said Dwight Mutchler, president of ExcipientFest Inc. and CEO of Mutchler Inc. Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
ExcipientFest features a daily expo of more than 40 exhibitors, multiple half-day workshops, more than 20 in-depth educational sessions and a speakers roundtable of top industry executives. The event also highlights the presentation of many academic research posters and also serves a platform for great networking opportunities including the annual IPEC State Dinner.
Experts from around the world and from principal regulatory agencies like the Food and Drug Administration, U.S, Pharmacopeia and the National Science Foundation will present topics including innovative drug applications, quality/regulatory standards, biotechnology, and experiment design.
Presented by the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council, ExcipientFest attracts major players in the excipient industry including JRS Pharma, BASF, Meggle, FMC and Colorcon. In addition, the drug manufacturers, regulatory organizations and other stakeholders are key contributors to the cutting-edge educational presentations.
ExcipientFest was founded and launched in Puerto Rico in 2001 to provide a forum for excipient users and drug manufacturers to share technical, regulatory and commercial information. Since then, the event has grown to attract more than 500 attendees, of which approximately 75 percent of work in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
Since its launch, the event was rotated to Baltimore and Raleigh, NC, and has also been held in Europe and China in conjunction with other regional IPEC offices. To learn more about registration and schedule information for ExcipientFest Americas 2015 at http://www.excipientfest.com/.
