Claro freezes telecom service rate for the rest of 2015

Telecommunications service provider Claro announced Thursday it will freeze all of its mass market rates for wireless and fixed telephony, Internet and television services “in solidarity with the consumer’s economic situation.”
“We have distinguished ourselves in the market by always offering the best rates, with the highest value in Puerto Rico. Today we make a commitment to our customers to continue to seek ways to offer more at better prices,” said Claro President Enrique Ortiz de Montellano. “Claro will not raise prices throughout 2015. It is our way of thanking the thousands of customers for entrusting their telecommunication services to us.”
Claro’s announcement of Thursday appears to be somewhat of a response to rival Libert de Puerto Rico’s decision to increase paid television and Internet its rates starting Mar. 1.
