Mitsubishi Motors donates instruments to Escuela Libre de Música

Student Jarel Negrón receives a Yamaha tuba donated by Mitsubishi from Madelene Nieves, vice president of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Caribbean.

Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Caribbean, Inc. (MMSC) has reaffirmed its support for Puerto Rico’s youth and the arts by donating wind instruments to the Escuela Libre de Música de San Juan (ELM-SJ).

The donation, which included a Yamaha oboe and tuba, was made through MMSC’s corporate social responsibility program, “Mi Society,” under its “Mi Ambition” pillar.

“As part of this initiative, MMSC seeks to promote the education and aspirations of our youth, forging a more integrated and authentic society for the future,” said Madelene Nieves, vice president of MMSC.

The donation is part of a broader collaboration between MMSC and ELM-SJ, through which students and faculty created and recorded the music for Mitsubishi’s Outlander 2025 “Concert Hall” campaign, a piece featuring Caribbean rhythms that reflect the streets and sounds of Puerto Rico.

The project brought together ELM-SJ educators Josiane Feliciano-Román, Rubén Toledo-Tellado and Víctor Vázquez-Ponce, along with the school’s Jazz Collective, made up of 11 students.

“The development of the campaign represented a valuable learning experience for the students,” said Magaly Rosario, director of ELM-SJ. “They had the opportunity to apply their musical knowledge and participate in the recording and audiovisual production process.”

MMSC described the collaboration not only as a marketing initiative but as a meaningful way to support local talent.

“What better way to integrate teachers and students than with the ELM-SJ campaign, which has an exceptional track record of developing world-class musicians,” said Andrea Piñeiro, senior marketing manager at MMSC.

The instruments were presented as part of ELM-SJ’s year-end concert, highlighting the ongoing partnership between the school and Mitsubishi Motors.
