‘Naricitas de Amor’ campaign to benefit pediatric cancer

This year, when an organization, school or company buys 25 clown noses or more, all group members receive a 10 percent discount in all Circo Toys and RC by Circo Toys stores.

Puerto Rican toy store Circo Toys is showing its commitment to pediatric cancer patients during the second edition of its “Naricitas de Amor” campaign through which it will donate $1 for each clown nose sold at its 15 stores during the Christmas season.

The proceeds will go to the Fundación CAP, a nonprofit organization that has supported the Dr. Antonio Ortiz Pediatric University Hospital at the Río Piedras Medical Center for more than 20 years.

“Our commitment to CAP and to Puerto Rican childhood is of great importance to us. Last year, we raised more than $17,000 in one month, and this year, with both individual and group efforts, we hope to exceed that amount,” said Circo Toys General Manager Luis Zayas.

The clown noses are available in the 10 Circo Toys stores and 5 RC by Circo Toys stores — a new concept specialized in remote control toys for children and adults of any age. Circo Toys’ goal this year is to exceed last year’s donation by raising at least $20,000 for Fundación CAP.

To ramp up its campaign efforts, Circo Toys is bringing social media into the mix, encouraging customers to snap pictures of themselves wearing their clown noses and upload the shots to their Facebook profile and to www.facebook.com/circotoys. For Twitter and Instagram uploads the would-be clowns should identify their photos with the #naricitasdeamor hashtag. The purpose of this campaign element is to raise awareness about the illness and how to beat it through Fundación CAP.

“The children suffering from cancer and their families undergo costly treatments; their physical, emotional and economical load is devastating. Alliances like this one allow us to continue with the mission of providing first-class medical equipment for cancer treatment and coordinating support programs that directly help the patients and their families,” said Gretel Haeussler, representative for Fundación CAP. “Circo Toys, and now RC by Circo Toys, is part of the CAP family and we thank them for their support to our organizations and the patients and families that greatly need them.”

This year, when an organization, school or company buys 25 clown noses or more, all group members receive a 10 percent discount in all Circo Toys and RC by Circo Toys stores. The biggest group to upload its picture and send its information via the Naricitas de Amor application (www.facebook.com/circotoys) will win a Puerto Rican “parranda” during the second week of January.
