17 P.R. co.’s to participate in Expocomer ’17 in Panama

Seventeen local companies will participate in this year’s edition of Expocomer, an international multi-sector expo slated for Mar. 22-25 looking to network, expand operations and secure business deals, Puerto Rico Trade and Export Executive Director Ricardo Llerandi announced Monday.

“Panama represents a very attractive market for our companies to offer their products and services, spurring favorable trade exchange,” Llerandi said.

“Currently, Panama is investing in the development of its public infrastructure in the areas of transportation, water supply, renewable energy, housing and construction in general. This convergence places our companies with a real possibility of obtaining business opportunities in the areas of greatest demand,” said Llerandi.

Expocomer has been taking place for 35 years, targeting mainly the beverage and food, textile, construction, technology and services sectors. More than 650 companies from 37 countries from all over the world participate. Puerto Rico Trade has been coordinating Puerto Rico’s participation of in this event for 20 years.

Last year Puerto Rico exported $175.3 million to Panama, while imports for 2016 were $12.5 million. This represented a positive trade balance in favor of Puerto Rico of $162.9 million, the agency said, citing available data.

Puerto Rico’s delegation includes: Abartys LLC, Brenda Marrero & Associates, Caribbean Specialized General Contractors, CPM, Destilería Serrallés, F.C. Manufacturing, Genesis Security Services, La Rosa de Sarón Caring Furniture, NSES, Inc., Olein Recovery Group, Organics Health Labs, Productos La Finca (Maga Foods), ProvenSmart, Red Comunicaciones Integradas, Rovira Foods, The Retail Group and Traffic Black Box Inc.

They will have an exhibition area to promote their products and services, Puerto Rico Trade said.
