Meet Puerto Rico earns top meetings industry awards
Meet Puerto Rico has earned two top industry accolades by the readers of “Smart Meetings” and “SportsEvents Magazine,” two major meetings, conventions and event publications in the United States.
Readers of “Smart Meetings” selected Meet Puerto Rico for its 2014 Platinum Choice Award. In receiving the award, Meet Puerto Rico is recognized for providing an outstanding job servicing meetings, incentive travel programs, trade shows and convention groups during the previous year.
Readers include professional decision-makers for planning meetings, events, conferences and incentive programs. Smart Meetings is one of the most-read meetings industry publications, reaching an audience of more than 44,000 readers.
Meet Puerto Rico also received the prestigious “SportsEvents Magazine” 2015 Places to Watch award. Sports event professionals were asked to nominate destinations and sports venues that they believe display exemplary creativity and professionalism toward the groups they host. Nominations were received from readers throughout the year, and the top picks were selected based on results from an online voting system.
“SportsEvents Magazine,” is the industry leader providing products and services designed to connect sports event organizers with sports commissions, CVBs, hotels, insurance companies and other sports events industry suppliers.
“It’s a great honor to be recognized by our clients for providing an outstanding service and meeting experience in Puerto Rico,” said Meet Puerto Rico President Milton Segarra.
“These awards not only recognize the dedication and professionalism of our team, but also the commitment of our partners who provide exemplary service and memorable experiences for groups and conventions on the island,” he said, noting experiences these groups take away from their visit to Puerto Rico are vital to the ongoing positioning of the destination.
“One of the trends that continues to remain true is that this segment, the meetings and conventions delegate, wants to experience the destination beyond the meeting room,” he said.
In Puerto Rico, one in four rooms occupied in hotels that can accommodate large-scale meetings belongs to the groups and conventions segment.
