The Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority’s (PRASA) board of directors on Tuesday authorized the creation of a Memorandum of Understanding to provide staff and services to the PRASA Revitalization Corp., formed recently to provide external financing to the cash-strapped water utility.
Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority Executive Director Alberto Lázaro said Sunday the chances of an increase in water rates could be pushed back with the approval of House Bill 2786, which seeks to address the public corporation’s funding needs for capital improvements.
The Puerto Rico Restaurant Association raised a red flag Thursday against the decision by the Aqueduct and Sewer and Authority’s examiner to enact an Environmental and Regulatory Compliance fee based on consumption for customers whose meters are less than 2 inches in diameter, and a flat rate for those with larger meters.
