The owners of The Little Gym franchise in Guaynabo, which has been in business for the past decade, told customers Monday that unless a buyer is found by tomorrow (Wednesday), the only location of the global franchise in Puerto Rico will close at the end of the month.

“For the past 10 years we have been privileged to be part of your children’s growth and development. But as it often happens, there are circumstances that lead us to change the course of our lives and the time has come for us,” Josephine and Nancy Frattallone, co-owners of The Little Gym of Guaynabo, told clients via email.

“That is why we have been compelled to make the sad and difficult decision to sell The Little Gym in Guaynabo at a fraction of the cost required to open a The Little Gym,” they said, noting that a franchise location usually entailes an investment of between $200,000 and $300,000.

They are offering the children’s gym operating at the San Patricio Towne Center for $50,000, “because we would like for [someone] to continue offering excellent service to our Guaynabo area kids,” the current owners said.

With more than 300 locations in 29 countries, The Little Gym is the world’s “premiere enrichment and physical development center for kids four months through 12 years,” according to the company’s self-description.

The business offers gym, karate, dance and sports classes to participating children.

In the email, the owners said franchiser The Little Gym International is willing to provide full training to the incoming owners. If a buyer is not found by Wednesday, however, the location will close Aug. 31.

“Thanks a lot for letting us be part of the comprehensive development of your children and for allowing us to have participated in their achievements. We are and will always be proud of each of them,” the Frattallones said in the email.
