The Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority and the Puerto Rico Infrastructure Finance Authority announced Tuesday they will be receiving proposals from qualified companies interested in providing construction and maintenance services for the second phase of the School Modernization Program, known as “Escuelas de Primera.”

The RFQ must be submitted on or before Oct. 8, Grace Santana, executive director of both agencies said.

Through this qualification process, the P3 Authority seeks to facilitate partnerships awarding contracts to companies or consortiums to remodel existing schools and build new schools in Puerto Rico.

Specifically, proponents will be required to build and remodel schools according to design specifications and implement a conservation program for a one-year term. PRIFA will oversee the bidding process and provide management services in relation to the project.

The RFQ and the Desirability and Convenience Study — published in June 2010 —are available via www.app.gobierno.pr or www.afi.gobierno.pr. The formal RFQ announcement is available at the Unique Bidding Registry, at www.ogp.pr.gov.
