The Coliseo de Puerto Rico has been ranked 15th in the list of Top 100 arenas worldwide in Pollstar Magazine’s 2016 rankings, venue officials confirmed Monday.

The list, compiled by the well-respected concert and venue industry publication, reflects tickets sold for events from Jan. 1 to Mar. 31, 2016.

Operated by SMG, Coliseo de Puerto Rico has hosted huge productions in the first three months to date. Highlights include events like Madonna, Ricky Martin, Juan Luis Guerra, Romeo and Puerto Rican rapper Wisin on their world tours.

“This ranking is the second best in all of Latin America and 8th in the Western Hemisphere,” said Michael Godoy, SMG’s vice president of operations. “SMG manages 16 of the world’s top 100 Arenas, more than any other private management company.”

The Puerto Rico Coliseum opened its doors in September 2004, earning a range of distinctions from trade publications including Venues Today’s “Top 25 Arenas of the Decade,” a nomination as Pollstar’s “International Large Venue of the Year 2012” and the “Prime Site Award” from Facilities in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

“We’re very proud of this achievement because we not only operate a state of the art facility that can host world-class productions, we can sell them too,” said SMG’s General Manager for the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, Eduardo Cajina.

“We have excellent support from the central SMG Corporate Booking Office, and the best systems and procedures to ensure artists and promoters receive first class service and most importantly, we have fans who support and follow these superstars as well as tourists who travel to the island just to see their favorite artists at our venue,” he said.
