MAACO, part of the Driven Brands family of automotive companies, celebrated Thursday the one-year anniversary of its Collision Repair & Auto Painting center in Carolina, one of three centers in Puerto Rico.

As the brand’s most recent market entry, the center has been well-received and has experienced strong sales since lifting its first bay door last fall, company officials said.

Since then, MAACO has painted more than 500 cars and experienced 53 percent sales growth year-over-year. According to MAACO leadership, this is the beginning of the brand’s expansion in Latin America.

“Puerto Rico is a key market for MAACO with enormous opportunity for growth,” said José Costa, president of MAACO. “Based on the success of our first centers in the marketplace, and the remarkable growth of our most recent center in Carolina, we expect to see, at minimum, 15 more MAACO centers in Puerto Rico alone within the next few years.”

“By investing in economic development, and putting our customers first, we hope to enjoy a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the car owners and the entire community we serve,” he said.

The Carolina MAACO is one of two centers owned and operated by franchisee Jaime Mayorga. His first center is located in Toa Baja. His future plans include expanding the business with additional sites in Puerto Rico. A third franchise center operates in Ponce.

“It is a privilege to represent the MAACO brand in Puerto Rico and to be able to contribute to grow the economy here,” Mayorga said. “My goal is to continue providing the best service and value in the industry to our customers and contributing to the community that has been so generous with its support of our business.”

In honor of the anniversary, customers will have the chance to turn the car they drive back into the car they love with a special half-price paint promotion, which runs Oct. 21 through Nov. 15 in all three centers in Puerto Rico, the company announced.
