Oriental awards $32K in college scholarships

Oriental Bank recently bestowed $32,000 to college students as part of its in-house scholarship program for employees’ children, the bank announced Monday.

The scholarships are aimed at students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

“Our employees are the basis of Oriental’s success, and this program allows us to thank them for their dedication and effort, providing financial support for their children’s education,” said Jennifer Zapata-Nazario, senior vice president of Human Resources at Oriental.

“This way, we reaffirm our commitment to education and its impact on the development of Puerto Rico,” she said.

The winners were Andrea Alvarez, Gabriel Colón, Adriana Estarellas, Saimylz Rivera, Vanessa Rodriguez, Paola Santana, Jennifer Cedeño and Celia María Gutiérrez.

They are studying in various universities in Puerto Rico in the following disciplines: Natural Sciences, Computers, and Chemical Engineering, Oriental officials said.
