Popular Community Bank launches ‘Mobile Cash’ service
Popular Community Bank, a subsidiary of Popular Inc., has launched “Mobile Cash,” allowing customers to make withdrawals at ATMs using the app from their smartphone.
Mobile Cash has rolled out to select branches and is gradually being deployed to the entire Popular Community Bank ATM network in New Jersey, New York and South Florida over the next few months.
Mobile Cash allows customers to quickly make withdrawals by logging into the app using a passcode or Touch ID and scanning the QR code on the ATM to dispense cash securely. Customers can use the locator on the app to find the nearest ATM with Mobile Cash access.
“We’re a community bank with tremendous institutional capabilities and a commitment to technology similar to large financial institutions,” said Manuel Chinea, COO of Popular Community Bank. “Our aim is to complement our high touch customer service by powering it with technology that delivers speed, security and accessibility anytime, anywhere.”
Mobile Cash also adds a layer of security by preventing fraudsters from stealing PIN numbers and skimming cards. It also ensures that sensitive information is not stored on the phone and protects this information in the event the phone is lost or stolen.
Mobile Cash is one of several recent digital features Popular Community Bank has deployed. The PIN Password and Touch ID features were launched last September as Popular Community Bank prepared for the rollout of Mobile Cash and in January the bank rolled out People Pay, a new person-to-person payment solution accessible via mobile or online banking, already available in Puerto Rico.
