Wesley Cullen, general manager of the Coliseum of Puerto Rico, was recently selected as one of the five most influential women in world industry venues by “Venues Today” magazine.

The five women are described as influential leaders, and mentors in the industries of music, sports, theatre, conventions, and the facilities that house them.

“I am grateful for this recognition given by ‘Venues Today,’ as well as the support of my team, our clients and our audience,” said Cullen. “I am committed to contribute with my work to the industry and the community with a positive influence. Because together we achieve more. This award is for Puerto Rico.”

Cullen joined SMG and the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in 2006 as events director. She has been at her current post since 2009. She has been an active member of the community, founding and heading the nonprofit organization Super Positivo, whose mission is to promote the cleaning of island beaches. Cullen is also a member of the Board of Directors of Elevate, Puerto Rico Chapter, a global organization that promotes leadership of women to increase their contributions to the economy and business world.

Reviews of the winners and the profile each woman will be published in the July 2014 edition of “Venues Today.” The other four winners in this category are Cheryl Swanson, executive director of Alerus Center Grand Forks in North Dakota; Susan Rosenbluth, senior vice president of AEG Live/Goldenvoice; Lynn Carlotto, general manager of Rogers K-Rock Centre in Canada; and Jan Addison, deputy general manager of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

The award will be presented July 27, 2014 in Oregon.
