Experts seek to promote online store creation in Puerto Rico

Puerto Ricans invest more than $500 million in online shopping, and a group of experts will gather at the E-Commerce Growth Caribbean Conference to discuss development and growth alternatives for local online stores. The event will take place May 2 at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Resort & Casino in the Convention District.

“We want to move the Puerto Rican economy with proven tools and with the help of world-class speakers to enhance the e-commerce market in Puerto Rico and make more money stay on the island,” said Obeth Seguinot, one of the organizers of the event and member of the founding team of the Puerto Rico Electronic Commerce Association.

The conference will feature more than 20 international and local speakers addressing topics that will be presented for the first time to a Puerto Rican audience.

“This is a unique opportunity to learn about and start implementing successful strategies to boost online stores. Beyond promoting the creation of stores … we come to increase their value through practical workshops and specific conferences,” said Seguinot, who specializes in the Shopify and Klaviyo platforms.

The event’s speakers include Lori Egozvue from Stanley Black & Decker, who will discuss “Online Sales Optimization for Companies: B2B Strategies in Ecommerce,” Pancho Mendiola from Somos Merchants from Mexico, presenting on “E-commerce and the Brands of the Future”; and Elías Manopla from Simplify E-commerce in Panama, talking about “The Priorities of All Successful E-commerce.”

Discussions will also cover the status of the e-commerce industry in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, as well as local tax incentives.
