Auto dealer offers up to $3K to help consumers upgrade

Given the large volume of people driving around cars that have surpassed their useful life in the market, a Puerto Rican auto dealership has come up with an incentive to help them upgrade to a newer unit.
Through the Cash Automotive Refund incentive being offered by the Cabrera auto dealership, consumers can get up to $3,000 per unit purchased, whether new or newer than their current car. There are an estimated 1.1 million consumers driving around in old vehicles, according to a study by Scarborough.
“This incentive, designed by Cabrera, allows consumers to get up to $3,000 in cash to buy a car at any of the Cabrera dealers and apply it to the payment or financing of their purchase,” said Juan Colón-Cabrera, owner of Cabrera.
“The incentive, which may vary according to the models, is offered on new cars, demos, pre-owned, and even certified used, so it is a great opportunity,” he said.
The CAR incentive is exclusive to Cabrera and is only available through Aug. 15, 2014. The company has set aside up to $1 million to pay the incentives for cars sold at its four dealers. The 60-year-old company sells American and Japanese cars.
