OFG’s Oriental unveils 1st mobile app for P.R. businesses
OFG Bancorp recently announced that its Oriental Bank subsidiary has become the first financial institution in Puerto Rico to launch a mobile banking app for commercial clients.
With “Oriental Biz,” as the new app is named, business clients can check balances, transfer funds between accounts, make payments, deposit checks, and approve ACH transactions and wire transfers. They also can check activity and payment history of all their accounts, plus find Oriental ATM and branch locations.
Until now, these services had only been available on mobile platforms to retail clients using the Oriental mobile app. Oriental Biz can be downloaded from Google Play for Android devices and from Apple’s iTunes for iOS devices.
“Imagine the relief this represents for a commercial customer. That’s why in Oriental we seek to meet their needs and are committed to provide the most advanced technology in banking to make their experience easier, faster and more agile,” said Elena Manrara-Goyco, senior vice president of Commercial Banking for Oriental.
“With ‘Oriental Biz,’ businesses will have the opportunity to manage their business finances from wherever they want and whenever they want, maximizing the accessibility and convenience offered by mobile,” she said, noting that more than 60 percent of online banking access their accounts through mobile devices.
Oriental also launched “Business Plus,” a checking account that bundles for added convenience a Master Card debit card, access to online banking and Oriental Biz, and optional savings account and credit line.
As part of the product launches, the bank will join forces with other innovation partners to further support entrepreneurial growth in Puerto Rico, said Alexandra López-Soler, senior vice president of marketing and public relations at Oriental. The partnerships will be announced in coming weeks.
