Four Sizzler restaurants in Puerto Rico were among the nationwide chain’s top five in sales, while the local operation’s performance and overall cleanliness led it to a sweep during the recently held operators conference in California, where it picked up seven awards.

The local franchise also stood out as having the best restaurant opening when it inaugurated the Dorado location in October 2012, Sizzler Puerto Rico President Carlos Trigo said.

“These awards are the result of the professionalism and commitment of our staff and the high standards of quality and freshness of our food,” Trigo said, of the chain’s 120 employees.

“We’re extremely honored that we have been able to shine with the higher-profile awards granted during this conference, which brings together 167 Sizzler restaurants across the United States and Puerto Rico,” he added. We work with tremendous dedication and we’re grateful for the support we get from all our customers.”

That support, he said, helps the chain grow, create jobs and boost the island’s economic development.

Of the 12 Sizzler restaurants in Puerto Rico, the Plaza Las Americas, San Juan Bay Marina, Ponce and Mayagüez locations were honored at the conference for achieving the highest sales in the system.

Alex Lignos, director of business development strategies for Sizzler, said the franchise continues its local expansion plans with a new restaurant scheduled to open this year in Cupey with an investment of around $2 million.
